The Freker Family Foundation is incredibly proud to announce a $3,000 donation to the Golden Tornado Club of Malden, Massachusetts.
This donation is about much more than athletics. It is about opportunity, character, community and the lasting impact that Malden High School can have on a young person’s life.
For Jack Freker Jr., that impact was personal.
Jack grew up in Malden and became a standout Golden Tornado football player, serving as a 1975 All-Scholastic co-captain and eventually being inducted into the Golden Tornado Hall of Fame.
But when Jack looks back at his football career, he remembers that the greatest lessons weren’t necessarily found on the scoreboard.

“Football in Malden gave me so much more than the opportunity to play a game I loved. It taught me discipline, accountability, teamwork, leadership and what it means to work for something bigger than yourself. Those lessons didn’t end when I left the football field. They became part of who I was and helped guide me throughout my career and my life.
The opportunities I received through Malden athletics had a lasting impact on me. That’s why giving back to the Golden Tornado Club is so important to our family. We want today’s student-athletes to have the same opportunity to learn, grow and discover what they’re capable of.
You never know which young athlete standing on a Malden field today will go on to accomplish something extraordinary tomorrow. If we can help give that person an opportunity, then this donation is worth every penny.”
The Freker Family Foundation was created to honor the legacy of John “Jack” C. Freker and Marjorie A. Freker and to give back to the communities and young people who represent the values they believed in.
This $3,000 donation is our family’s way of saying thank you to Malden — and of investing in the next generation of Golden Tornadoes.
